WCAG website revamp for a video-based learning platform using a three-phase accessibility audit!
About Client
The client has a leading video-based learning and engagement platform serving higher-education institutions, corporations, and training organizations. With a rapidly growing global user base - including students, instructors, and administrators - they recognized the need to offer an online experience that meets ADA, WCAG, and Section 508 accessibility requirements.
To support inclusive learning and meet compliance expectations across institutions, they partnered with us to revamp their entire website with an accessibility-first approach.
Phase 1: Preliminary Accessibility Assessment for Figma Design mockup
We began by evaluating their platform’s primary design templates to identify accessibility gaps before any redesign commenced.
This assessment is not intended to replace a full WCAG audit; instead, it focuses on evaluating design structures, visual patterns, and conceptual interaction flows that may present accessibility barriers within the design template.
Key activities included:
- Evaluating color contrast, typography, layout, and brand palette.
- Reviewing page structure, and layout consistency.
- Interpretation of intended interaction behavior based on designer annotations andD typical UX patterns.
- Assessing keyboard navigation, focus management, and tab order issues.
- Reviewing early navigation patterns.
- Identifying risk barriers for screen-reader users.
- Providing prioritized remediation recommendations.
Outcome:
The client gained clear visibility into accessibility expectations, allowing their platform and marketing teams to make Figma design choices that meet WCAG requirements before executing a full redesign accessibility implementation.
